Master is Done!

So, for those of you who are unfamiliar with mastering, it's the process that pulls together the collection of songs that have been recorded separately, attempts to bring out/enhance each song and ensure there is consistency between tracks. It's the time to focus on the album as a whole and make sure the CD is ready to press. I worked with Maria Triana at Sony music; she listened carefully and tweaked and detweaked - a process akin to a dental teeth cleaning!
Now, I'm knee deep in photos and artwork - getting all ready for the production people. Writing songs is so much easier than this part! Nevertheless, pushing forward!

Happy New Year folks! Now that the recording process is done, I'm knee deep in dealing with the manufacturing of the new disc! Looking through photos, considering layout design and bringing the finished recording in for mastering, the process that puts the finishing touches on the collection of mixes at a whole. I'm on the schedule at Sony music in two weeks for this.....looking forward to it! I'm keeping the schedule clear of gigs so that I can focus on this...will be out again in another month or two...Looking forward to it, and to seeing all of you!

Well, all of the songs are recorded! Robert and I are in the final mixing phase. It's been a great year from a compositional standpoint. I began recording in December, starting with a list of 10 songs. All but two of the songs were tossed off of the list in favor of new songs, written after the recording process had begun. It's been a very fertile year; this is good! I hope to be ready for mastering in early December so the project can be sent out for design and duplication. Stay tuned, friends! Oh, and thanks for coming out to the gigs, it's always great to see friendly faces out there; I'm into your love!

Made better by all of your company at recent gigs! It's been a great summer, lots of new songs and new friends!

Thanks all who have been turning out for the recent gigs. I so appreciate your appreciation and support! Many of you have asked for updates on the recording, so here is the progress report!

The rhythm tracks for the cd are now done thanks to some fine work on the part of Robert Bard and Mike Ralff on bass, Eric Parker on drums and Brian Mellick on percussion. It's been great fun to work with these talented and delightful guys! This week, we started layering on some colors and brought in Michael Snow to lay down violin tracks on several of the tunes: Stay, Keep the Light On and Forgot to Remember. Oh, how I love the violin!
